Rave Reviews

We were winning about 30% of our bids before trying Howdy payments. Now it's about 50/50 and ticking up. I'm spending less time on the road quoting jobs and more time working with clients. It's a no brainer.

It's amazing how such an easy addition to our toolbox makes such a big difference. Our quote-to-close ratio started improving the first week we got on board with Howdy, and it's continuing to get better as we educate our sales team about how to effectively communicate the benefits to homeowners.

I was losing a good amount of business to companies that were able to offer in-house financing or more flexible payment terms that I just couldn't swing. Howdy has leveled the playing field and allowed me to compete against the big guys without losing my shirt on price. Thank you guys!

FAQ

What is HowdyPay?

Howdy is a digital escrow service and trusted third party in a transaction between buyers and sellers. We provide a platform to enable you to buy or sell home improvement services safely and securely. We safeguard funds until the project terms have been fulfilled. Only when both parties are satisfied that the project has been been successfully completed do we release funds to the seller.

Who should use HowdyPay?

Anyone who wants a more comfortable, transparent, and secure home service experience should use HowdyPay. Buyers should use HowdyPay whenever they are asked to pay a deposit or full payment upfront before receiving goods or services. Sellers should use HowdyPay to be certain that the buyer has sufficient funds for the project, and that they will be paid in full and on time.

What is "escrow"?

Escrow is an arrangement in which funds are deposited for safekeeping with a neutral third party pending the completion of a contract or project. Once the obligations have been met, the escrow agent (Howdy) will transfer the funds to the other party as prescribed in their agreement.

How does Howdy keep my money safe?

All funds are held in FDIC insured accounts and our payment infrastructure is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, the highest level of certification available in the payments industry.

Does Howdy remain impartial?

Yes, we are independent and have no interest in either party involved in the transaction. We act as a neutral facilitator of funds and impartially evaluate any disputes that might arise during a home renovation project.

Are there minimum or maximum amounts that can be paid through Howdy?

There is no maximum amount when using HowdyPay. The minimum transaction value is $100.

What if my project requires miletone payments?

You can easily set up a milestone payments transaction on HowdyPay (milestone transactions are where partial amounts of the transaction value are released to the seller upon completion of certain events). Each progress payment will have its own release event which allows users to structure any possible transaction options i.e. building a house can be structured into five separate milestones (foundation, electrical, walls, roofing, plumbing etc.). Once the buyer accepts the work done on the foundation, Howdy will release the funds allocated to that milestone. As another example, a roofing materials delivery can be structured into several separate loads. Howdy’s system allows a user to structure a transaction any way he or she likes.

Does Howdy accept cash or check deposits?

No, Howdy is a 100% digital payment facilitator and we do not accept cash or check deposits. These payment methods are insecure, slow, and do not allow us to effectively intervene to resolve a dispute if one arises during a project.

How does Howdy make money?

We retain a small transaction fee paid by the service provider. Check out our simple, transparent fee schedule above. Homeowners and other service buyers don’t need to worry about calculating fees – the price you are quoted by the service provider is the price you pay.

What payment methods do you accept?

Homeowners can pay by card, ACH, Buy Now Pay Later (4-6 months interest free), as well as a variety of financing options (up to 10 year terms).

How do you handle disputes?

Things happen, we get it. Each project funded through HowdyPay is assigned a dedicated Project Advisor who is there to assist both parties to the transaction throughout the project. If a dispute arises, we make every attempt to work with the contractor and homeowner to reach a mutually agreeable solution. If the parties can’t come to terms and resolve the problem amicably, we will step in and make a decision. This could include but is not limited to withholding payment, completing a payment, or imposing an additional monetary judgement through arbitration.

What is arbitration?

Arbitration is a legally binding, expedited dispute resolution process that is much faster and much less expensive than court. If parties to a transaction cannot resolve a dispute amicably, Howdy will conduct an arbitration hearing and will issue a court enforceable judgement (also known as an award). This award can be easily converted to a court order without the need for lien enforcement or a lawsuit.
